Authorities in Minden, Louisiana, are investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old found unattended in a car seat inside an empty home.
Police rushed the girl from the Young Street home to a hospital, but she was declared dead at around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said there were no adults inside the residence where the girl was found, along with an unharmed 10-month-old baby.

They believe the toddler’s death resulted from a malfunction of the car seat’s locking mechanism, but an official cause of death is pending.
“We’re awaiting autopsy results and viewing film to make further determinations in this case,” said Police Chief Jared McIver.
“No charges have been filed.”
