Teen held in basement after Michigan man lures her on Snapchat

A Michigan girl was found wandering the streets early Sunday morning after she managed to escape from the home of a suspect who held her in the basement for one day.

22-year-old Charles Willis now faces a slew of charges, including kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct, after the 14-year-old girl was found walking alone at around 5:30 a.m.

The teen told police she lived two hours away from Willis’ home and that he had paid for an Uber to bring her to his residence.

  • The girl met Willis on Snapchat on April 25 and lured her to his home. Once she arrived, he locked her up in the basement for more than 24 hours.

    “She was very brave in that she was able to tell us what happened to her,” Police Lt. Patrick Reinke said.

    Police believe there may be more victims. They urged anyone who may have been in contact with the predator to call the Northville Township Detective Bureau at 248-349-9400 or the local police.
