Fire chief, firefighters accused of intentionally starting fires in Tennessee

A Ramer, Tennessee, fire chief and two firefighters are accused of intentionally starting fires in abandoned structures in and around the community.

Special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation started working with Selmer Fire detectives in March after a blaze at an abandoned structure in McNairy.

The TBI collected information about other fires in abandoned structures and grass fires in the Ramer community and identified three members of the Ramer Fire Department as culprits.

  • Arrest warrants were issued on Thursday for Fire Chief Jacob King, 23, and firefighters Gabriel Vandiver and Trevor Williams, both 19.

    Vandiver was charged with one count each of Arson and Vandalism. Williams was charged with two counts each of Arson and Vandalism.

    King was arrested and charged with two counts each of Facilitation to Commit Arson and Conspiracy to Commit Arson.
