A volunteer firefighter has been arrested after he allegedly took and shared photos of the scene of the deaths of Georgia twins Qaadir and Naazir Lewis.
The 42-year-old firefighter was fired from the Towns County Fire Department on March 14 after allegedly violating department protocol.
He has been charged with misdemeanor obstruction in connection to the investigation into the twins’ death.
The bodies of the two Lawrenceville brothers were discovered by hikers on Bell Mountain in Hiawassee, Georgia on March 8.
The 19-year-old twins left their family home the previous day after booking a flight to Boston to visit friends.
They never made the flight and the plane tickets were found in their wallets. Investigators believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, something the brothers’ family rejects.
“I couldn’t imagine them hurting each other because I’ve never seen them get into a fistfight before,” the boys’ uncle said.
“To say they did this to each other? No. Something happened in those mountains, and we want answers,” their aunt added.
