A Colorado woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly tried to cure her grandson’s autism with nicotine, causing the child serious health issues.
Tammy Eddings-Dion, 53, faces child abuse and crime against an at-risk juvenile charges after she allegedly used nicotine patches to cure her autistic grandson.
A family member noticed that the 4-year-old was incredibly lethargic and nearly unresponsive when they picked him up on April 3.
The boy started vomiting and was rushed to a hospital, where he was treated for nicotine poisoning. A nicotine patch was discovered on the boy’s leg.
The boy’s family later discovered another patch stuck on his back.
Eddings-Dion had reportedly revealed to the family member that she had ordered a 30-day supply of 24-hour nicotine patches.
She added the supply would be enough to “see if the treatment was working,” adding that she hoped the treatment would fix the boy’s behavioral issues.
