A Louisiana mother and her boyfriend were charged in connection with the Saturday death of the woman’s 7-year-old special needs son.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for help just before 9 p.m. and found the boy, Cristian Rodriguez Padilla, unresponsive.

The coroner’s office ruled that the boy, who had cerebral palsy, died from natural causes related to his condition.
