The family of a Maryland man found dead while on vacation in the Bahamas is seeking answers after authorities ruled out foul play’s involvement in his death.
Dinari McAlmont, 23, was found dead on a stretch of a beach in Paradise Island in the Bahamas last Sunday.
The tourist was staying at a resort with his parents and had told them he was going to grab a coat after dinner but never returned.
McAlmont’s body was found at around 5:30 a.m. the following morning. His family learned that he had been involved in an altercation after spitting on someone.
“When I looked at the photo they showed me, my son was beaten; he was traumatized,” the man’s mother, Michelle, said.
“They beat my son down in the sand. I need justice for my baby. I need justice.”
An autopsy showed that McAlmont died as a result of drowning, and police said foul play was not suspected in the death.
“The mortery could not release the body because his name was spelt wrong; he was dead for 8 days now. My sister is so frustrated. She has not seen her son as yet,” the victim’s aunt said.
“We are afraid evidence will disappear. Please, we need some international help ASAP, please!!”
