At least three people are presumed dead after a small plane missed a runway at a Boca Raton airport, crashed into a car, and exploded in a fireball Friday morning.
The Cessna 310R crashed at around 10 a.m. on a busy street just outside the airport after experiencing mechanical issues, officials said.
The flight took off from Boca Raton and was in the air for less than 20 minutes before coming down.
Witnesses reported seeing “what appeared to be two bodies in the wreckage and a damaged vehicle nearby.”
The plane reportedly pushed the car onto railroad tracks. Police and fire officials closed the railroad as they processed the scene.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a plane crash occurred earlier today within our community,” Mayor Scott Singer said.
“At this time, details are still emerging, and we are working closely with emergency responders and authorities.”
