A Barcelona couple, their three young kids, and a 36-year-old pilot were identified as the victims of the deadly helicopter crash that rocked New York City Thursday afternoon.
Agustin Escobar, the president of the Spanish branch Siemens, his wife, and their three children aged, 4, 5, 11, had just arrived to the city from Barcelona Thursday morning when they boarded the doomed tour flight.
The chopper had just been in the air for 16 minutes after taking off from the Wall Street Heliport when it “split in half” and plunged into the Hudson River near Pier 40 at around 3:15 p.m.
Four victims died at the scene, while the two others succumbed at the hospital. Photos taken moments before the flight showed the parents and children smiling with thumbs up inside the helicopter.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those who were onboard,” Mayor Eric Adams said.
“All six have been removed from the water, and sadly all six victims were pronounced dead.”
