A Pennsylvania couple was arrested Thursday after they failed to afford a crib or a bassinet for their week-old baby, leading to his death.

Ashley Susana Usadel, 31, and Travis Scott Smart, 34, were charged with child endangerment in connection to the death of Zane Scott Usadel-Smart.

Officers responded to the couple’s home early on April 10 and found the infant unresponsive on a bed with his father performing CPR.

Medical personnel pronounced the boy dead at the scene. His parents were arrested for questioning.
