A Florida man was arrested after he was found living with his elderly mother’s decomposing body inside their St. Petersburg home.
Police were conducting a welfare check on Susan King, 92, on Sunday after learning she had not contacted the landlord in several months.
Officers spoke to King’s 67-year-old son, Michael Moulton, at the home and were told the woman was visiting a friend and would be back within a couple of days.
The following day, the officers returned to the home and discovered King’s body “in an advanced stage of decomposition.”
Investigators found no signs of foul play or trauma on the body, but an official cause of death is pending autopsy results.
Moulton was arrested on a 2013 warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge. More charges could be filed in connection to King’s death.
