A Tennessee lineman was struck and killed by a drunken driver while working on storm repairs in Alabama, authorities said.
Thomas Dewayne “Drew” Ferrell, 49, was on March 16 working on power lines at the intersection of Ashland Highway/Mount Olive Circle and Mountain View Road when the deadly crash took place.
The ARTIS Power construction employee was reportedly wearing a safety jacket while walking across Ashland Highway when he was struck by 45-year-old Miguel Manzano-Martinez.
Manzano-Martinez was allegedly intoxicated while driving the 1995 Nissan pickup involved in the crash.
Police said he was passing cars and driving erratically before the collision.
He was preliminarily charged with first-degree assault and driving under the influence. His charges are expected to be upgraded.
