Mother, toddler dead after car crashes into Fort Worth river

A Texas mother and her toddler son are dead after their car crashed into a Fort Worth river on Saturday, authorities said.

Melanie Robinson, 38, died Tuesday after spending days in the ICU at Harris Methodist Hospital, authorities said.

Her 22-month-old son, Jonas Allen, was pulled from the Trinity River nearly 18 hours after the crash. He was declared dead at the scene.

    Emergency responders were not able to find Jonas on Saturday and had to suspend the search for the night.

    The toddler was located just before noon Sunday. Grieving family members gathered on the riverbank as divers searched for the boy.

    The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
