Several middle school students taken to hospital after eating edibles in Mississippi

Several students were taken to the hospital Tuesday after they ate edibles at a Mississippi middle school, officials said.

Police said six Yazoo City middle school students required hospitalization after a fellow student brought the edibles into Woolfolk Middle School.

Yazoo Police Chief Terry Gann said that while the incident remains under investigation, it is likely the student who brought the edibles will face charges.

  • “We’re trying to get down to where this kid got them from,” Gann said. “It’s an ongoing investigation.”

    Superintendent Dr. Earl Watkins said school officials are assisting in the investigation.

    “The matter is currently under investigation, and we are working in coordination with local authorities to determine the facts,” he said.

    “As a district, we remain committed to the safety and well-being of our students and have taken proactive steps to educate families about products that may appear harmless but pose serious risks.”
