Miami bus driver shoots, kills 2 passengers after argument

Two people were shot dead aboard a Miami bus when a driver opened fire following an argument early Sunday morning.

The incident on the Miami-Dade County Transit bus unfolded outside a shopping plaza at Miami Gardens Drive and Northwest Seventh Avenue.

Police responded to the shooting at around 3 a.m. and learned that the bus driver had gotten into an argument with the passengers before opening fire.

  • The two male victims were rushed by helicopter to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in critical condition. They later succumbed to their injuries.

    While the investigation is in its early stages, a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation said that bus drivers aren’t allowed to use firearms while on duty.

    “Transit operators are not allowed to be armed. This morning’s incident aboard a Metrobus remains under investigation, and the Department of Transportation and Public Works is fully cooperating with law enforcement.”
