Father surrenders after baby dies unattended in car in NJ

Authorities in Lakewood, New Jersey said a 35-year-old father surrendered after his baby died unattended in a car earlier this week.

The four-month-old was found unresponsive in the vehicle in the area of 5th Street in Lakewood Township at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The baby was pronounced dead at a hospital. His father, Moshe Ehrlich, now faces endangering the welfare of a child charges.

    “The inside of vehicles heats up about 20 degrees in just ten minutes, regardless of what temperature is outside,” explains Amy Artuso, of the National Safety Council.

    She added that a child’s body heats up more than three times faster than an adult.
