A Texas man has been charged with murder after he allegedly beat his wife to death with a clothing iron early Wednesday morning.
Chance Zane Chavez, 34, was reportedly covered in blood when Houston Police officers responded to his home over a suspicious event at around 7:20 a.m.
“Upon arrival, they observed a male, Chavez, standing in the doorway with his hands up,”
“Officers secured him in the back of a patrol car and then searched the house for anyone injured,”
“A female, Chavez’s wife, was discovered unresponsive in a bedroom. She had suffered blunt force trauma to her body and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.”
Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Kristen Chavez. The suspect is also accused of dumping his wife’s dogs on the highway after the murder.
“She tried to see the good in people even though they tried to take advantage of that,” the victim’s brother said.
