The family of a fatal hit-and-run driver turned him into authorities after he allegedly killed a 14-year-old Texas girl and critically wounded her brother over the weekend.
Stetson Ybarbo was arrested at his mother’s home in Garland after his family members told police where he was hiding.
The 30-year-old is accused of hitting and killing 14-year-old Daisy Alcon Paredes as she walked home with her 16-year-old brother late Saturday.
The man took off running with his 8-year-old child after hitting several parked vehicles. His girlfriend remained at the scene and was arrested.
Daisy’s brother was listed in critical condition but is expected to survive. The siblings were inseparable, their family said.
“There’s not one day where I would go without talking to Daisy,” soccer teammate Giselle Garcia said.
“And knowing I can’t talk to her anymore, that’s what’s actually hurting me. It’s hard knowing that you can see her one day and then the next all of this would happen.”
