‘It’s all right’: Family supports teen accused of killing older brother at court

A Massachusetts teen was charged with the murder of his older brother in an emotional hearing attended by supporting relatives.

Jaylen Lambert, 17, is accused of shooting his 20-year-old brother, Jaleale Simmons, to death during an argument Saturday afternoon.

Prosecutors said the boys’ mother tried to separate them but Lambert returned to resume the argument, armed with a gun with an extended magazine.

  • “The argument resumed and the defendant shot his brother in the chest, killing him,” a prosecutor said.

    The teen stood next to his attorney, looking to the ground and shaking his head as family members shouted “We love you” and “It’s all right!”

    Lambert will be tried as an adult. He is being held in the Bristol County Jail without bond.
