5-year-old boy fatally struck while trying to board school bus

A Texas boy is dead after he was fatally struck while trying to board a school bus Monday morning, officials said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the 5-year-old boy ran in front of the bus as it pulled away after picking up children on Pecos River Drive in Granbury.

    “We all have the expectation that students will be safe on our buses and in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski said.

    “We are already working to fully understand the situation and will share more information after we have had the time to investigate the incident.”
