President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, describing the conversation as “very good.”
“Just completed a very good telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“It lasted approximately one hour. Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs.”
Trump discussed a 30-day ceasefire against Ukraine’s energy and infrastructure with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday but a series of drone strikes on civilian areas including a hospital followed the call.
In a joint statement, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that Trump “fully briefed” Zelenskyy on yesterday’s call with Putin.
The two presidents “agreed to share information closely between their defense staffs as the battlefield situation evolved.”
Zelenskyy asked Trump for additional air defense systems and the US President “agreed to work with him to find what was available, particularly in Europe.”
