An Iowa man has allegedly admitted to killing his wife by slitting her throat to “put her out of her misery” after she lived years with chronic illnesses.
Richard Hoesing, 75, called police late on March 16 and told dispatchers that he had slaughtered his wife, Jean Hoesing.
The 74-year-old woman was found dead in her bedroom with a “severe laceration across the front of her throat”.
Richard explained that his wife suffered from “bipolar condition and [multiple sclerosis]” and that he killed her to “put her out of her misery.”
Officers said Hoesing was cooperative with the investigation and had blood on his clothes and hands. He reportedly attempted to clean the knife used in the crime.
Hoesing was charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.
