Authorities in New Mexico charged two boys with murder in connection to the fatal hit-and-run crash of a bicyclist that they reportedly filmed from their stolen car.
The 13-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger of the involved vehicle were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and leaving the scene of an accident among other counts.
An 11-year-old passenger won’t be charged with murder due to his young age.
“APD detectives are working with the DA’s Office and CYFD to determine what charges he may face and whether he can be held on those charges.”
The boys allegedly mowed down Scott Dwight Habermehl, 63, as he rode his bicycle on the bike lane to work last May.
The suspects recorded the incident from inside the car. The 13-year-old could be heard saying he was about to strike the victim before the car accelerated.
The other teen then says “Just bump him, brah,” and the driver asks “Like bump him?”
“Yeah, just bump him. Go like…15…20,” another passenger says.
Police are looking for the 15 and 11-year-olds while the 13-year-old is set to be booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
