A South Georgia couple has been charged with murder in connection to last week’s death of a 4-year-old girl.
Seth Hunter Brown, 26, and Taylor Marie Hughes, 29, were charged with murder and cruelty to children among counts in the death of Taylor’s daughter, Reese Hughes.
On Friday evening, the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding an unresponsive child on her way to the hospital.
First responders met the driver at a convenience store and started life-saving measures while on the way to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital.
Despite all the efforts, the girl was declared dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations deemed the death a homicide.
“I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Jordan Knight.
“I ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.”
