A California woman was strangled to death by her mass murderer husband during a conjugal visit at an Ione, California jail, authorities said this week.
Stephanie Dowells, 62, was found unresponsive at Mule Creek State Prison last November after her 54-year-old husband David Brinson made a haunting phone call.
The convicted murderer told officers that his wife passed out at the conjugal visit facility where they had been staying on Nov. 13, 2024. She was declared dead about an hour later.
The coroner’s office later determined that Dowells was strangled to death.
Brinson was serving four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the 1994 execution-style murders of four men.
Dowells’ daughter-in-law said the victim and Brinson “would read the Bible together.”
“He was in school in there because she was pushing him to try to be this better person.”
