A 24-year-old man allegedly walked into a Milwaukee police station late Feb. 27 to report that his girlfriend was dead inside their apartment.
Serkan Akcilad only reported Silan Tut’s death because of a scheduled visit of the landlord after living with her decomposing body for at least a month, investigators said.
“Akcilad stated he had been gone about an hour and when he returned she was ‘lying on the floor covered in blood.’ Initially he thought [his girlfriend] was ‘joking’ and he tried to lift her up. Akcilad said [his girlfriend] was cold as ice and he fainted from shock.”
Police found Tut deceased with a pillow behind her head, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso and neck. The body’s state of decomposition indicated she had been dead for about a month.
Akcilad, who denied being involved in the woman’s death, was charged with one count of first-degree reckless homicide.
