Mutilated body found inside burning Chicago house

Authorities in Chicago are investigating after the mutilated body of a man was found in the basement of a home that was intentionally set on fire Friday.

When firefighters put out the fire that ravaged the North Lawndale home, they discovered the body parts of a human body.

The 68-year-old’s arms and right leg were severed after he was shot to the neck and chest. His left leg had deep cuts, police said.

  • Officers also discovered contractor bags, a reciprocating saw, a cellphone, and shrink wrap at the scene.

    The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not identify the victim but neighbors described him as friendly.

    “That’s the scary part. Who killed him and why?” one wondered.

    “I’m frustrated, and I’m scared and all of the above, because we don’t know what happened,” another added.
