An Ohio boy is fighting for his life after two pit bulls attacked and mauled him in Columbus’ North Linden neighborhood earlier this month.
Oscar Koon, 8, remains unconscious in the ICU days after the mauling incident that occurred at around 1 p.m. on March 2.
Witnesses said the two canines attacked the boy and another dog before charging at a neighbor before an officer arrived and fatally shot one of the pit bulls.
The second pit bull was later euthanized by Franklin County Animal Control.
Oscar had a lengthy road to recovery ahead of him, including facial reconstruction and physical and psychological therapy.
Oscar’s aunt said that his parents, who have remained at his bedside since the incident, are shattered.
“Their life has been shattered. They are living minute to minute, and they have a lot of support…but the reality of their day-to-day (life) is unbearable,” she said.
