A toddler was found safe at the scene of a murder-suicide that claimed the lives of a man and woman late Friday, authorities in Michigan said.
Auburn Hills Police officers responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at the Holiday Inn Express hotel shortly before 11 p.m.
As officers approached the room, they heard two gunshots. They entered the room and found two people, a 34-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, dead.
A 3-year-old girl was found at the scene, unharmed. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation and then released to a relative.
Detectives said preliminary evidence showed the man shot the woman before turning the gun on himself.
The victims’ identities were not disclosed. The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform autopsies to determine a cause of death.
