President Donald Trump admitted Friday that Russia is “absolutely pounding Ukraine,” announcing that he is considering severe sanctions against Moscow until a deal is reached.
Trump said that Putin was “bombing the hell” out of Ukraine but is doing what “anyone else would do.”
The 78-year-old added that it is getting “more difficult” to deal with Ukraine, suggesting that he would use economic pressure on Russia to reach a long-term peace.
“Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large-scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED,” the Republican wrote.
“To Russia and Ukraine, get to the table right now, before it is too late. Thank you!!!”
Trump’s comments come a week after his confrontation with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Oval Office.
