Authorities in New York City are investigating after a 4-year-old boy overdosed on fentanyl at a Brooklyn family shelter on Tuesday.
The 4-year-old remains in critical condition after he overdosed on drugs at around 8 a.m. at the Women In Need shelter in East Flatbush.
“He wasn’t moving when they brought him out,” a witness said. “It looked like he was going to die.”
The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition late Tuesday. His parents were taken into custody.
“WIN is devastated that a child in one of our shelters has been hospitalized,” the shelter said in a statement.
“We are working closely with the NYPD to support their ongoing investigation. We remain committed as ever to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all families that call a WIN shelter home.”
