Boy, 4, overdoses on fentanyl at Brooklyn family shelter

Authorities in New York City are investigating after a 4-year-old boy overdosed on fentanyl at a Brooklyn family shelter on Tuesday.

The 4-year-old remains in critical condition after he overdosed on drugs at around 8 a.m. at the Women In Need shelter in East Flatbush.

“He wasn’t moving when they brought him out,” a witness said. “It looked like he was going to die.”

  • The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition late Tuesday. His parents were taken into custody.

    “WIN is devastated that a child in one of our shelters has been hospitalized,” the shelter said in a statement.

    “We are working closely with the NYPD to support their ongoing investigation. We remain committed as ever to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all families that call a WIN shelter home.”
