A Texas woman is accused of murdering his boyfriend after discovering text messages from another woman on his phone.
Tatyana Evans, 23, was arrested Tuesday on a murder charge in connection to the killing of 28-year-old Geovanni Montague.
The victim was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds in the street near his Oak Grove apartment in the early morning hours of Feb. 9.
Evans and Montague had been in a “volatile” relationship, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez who added that the fatal shooting was “possibly stemming from jealousy.”
The victim’s mother described the relationship as “violent” citing a December incident during which Evans inflicted “serious injury” on her son.
Evans told police that Montague had accidentally left his phone in her car and that she “found texts” from another woman on his phone.
When she confronted him about the texts, Evans claimed the victim “grabbed her by her jacket” prompting her to shoot him “5-6 times” and leave him in the street.
