A jealous Florida man killed his ex-wife and himself in a raging attack after learning the woman had a new boyfriend.
James Christopher Lindsey, 42, broke into Kristin Stevens’ Chuluota home using a hammer at around 1 a.m. Friday and stabbed her “more than 50 times all over her body.”
The woman’s boyfriend tried to intervene but Lindsey stabbed him as well. The man escaped from the knife-wielding attacker and asked a neighbor to call 911.
Lindsey was discovered dead about four hours after the crime. He reportedly lost control of his speeding car in the Orange County area of Fort Christmas Road and was ejected from the vehicle.
The couple’s 16-year-old son was sleeping in his room during the tragedy. He was unharmed.
“After courageously trying to escape an abusive relationship, she was murdered by her abuser – someone who was able to bypass a court injunction and was not ankle monitored, despite previous threats,” Stevens’ friend said.
“Tragically, her 16-year-old son now has to navigate life without his mother.”
