New York City news, New York news.

The grieving daughter of the New York man whose mutilated torso was found in a suitcase floating in the East River on Feb. 5 said the victim considered his killer as his own grandson.

Edwin Echevarria’s 38-year-old daughter said her father raised his ex-girlfriend’s grandson, 23-year-old Christian Millet, from a young age and allowed him to stay at his Baruch Houses apartment.

Millet allegedly admitted to stabbing Echevarria several times and dismembering his body after an argument.

The victim’s daughter said the suspect’s own family gave up on him because of his violent, disrespectful behavior.

He and Echevarria often argued because the older man was constantly “trying to make him a better person, so he could get a job, get his own place, get his own family, and do better.”

“He really loved Christian as if he was his grandson. Every time Christian would do something, I feel like the arguments were because he was trying to better Christian, trying to be that father figure,” the victim’s daughter said.
