Authorities in Erie County, New York have charged a man with two counts of murder after the remains of two women were found years apart on the same hiking trail.
Richard J. Fox, 62, stands accused of killing Marquita Mull, 50, and Cassandra Watson and dumping their bodies on Chautauqua Rails to Trails near Woleben Road in Portland, New York.
Watson was Fox’s girlfriend around the years 2003 and 2004 when he allegedly killed her. Her remains were not discovered until Sept. 2021.
More human remains belonging to Mull were found next to Watson’s on the same trail. Investigators believe Fox killed her around June 2021.
Mull had no prior relationship with Fox but got into his car after he picked her up on the street.
Both women died of strangulation in Buffalo. Fox then allegedly transported their bodies to the remote area where they were found.
