Authorities in New York deemed the death of a 6-year-old girl inside a Brooklyn apartment suspicious after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub Friday afternoon.
Police found the girl deceased in the bathtub inside an apartment at the corner of Elton Street and Ridgewood Avenue at around 1:30 p.m.
“They brought the little girl out under a white sheet,” a neighbor said. “I could see her head and her hands on her chest. It was almost like she was hiding.”
“I was all the police officers, and then an ambulance. The father came out. He jumped into another ambulance behind it. Later, they brought a woman out in handcuffs.”
The investigation continues and an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause and manner of death.
The girl’s father works as a store manager. On Friday afternoon, he failed to show up for work.
“He didn’t come to work. He was supposed to cover for me,” his co-worker said.
The man then texted the father who reportedly replied, “Somebody killed my daughter.”
“He told me he was feeling crazy right now,” the co-worker added. “He’s a good guy and a good friend. It’s sad. It’s very sad.”
