A Louisiana woman is in custody after she allegedly beat an infant to death while babysitting him for just three hours last month.
Shirley L. Sawyer, 40, accepted to babysit Kairo Anderson on Jan. 22 before allegedly beating the infant to death.
“I’ve been knowing this girl for a minute, and I couldn’t believe it,” the baby’s mother said.
“You smiled in my face, and you killed my baby behind my back.”
When the mother returned to retrieve little Kairo, she initially thought he was asleep before noticing how “limp” the baby was.
She brought the baby to a hospital where doctors told her he suffered “multiple skull fractures” and a “massive brain bleed” as a result of an assault.
The baby succumbed to his injuries. Sawyer was arrested Tuesday on a first-degree murder charge.
