Utah news, US news.

A frustrated dad allegedly caused his 2-month-old son significant injuries when the child wouldn’t stop crying.

Jacob Beal, 28, was the only caretaker of the infant on Thursday while the mother was at work.

Relatives living upstairs could hear the child crying and asked a clearly frustrated Beal to bring the infant up.

After they calmed down the baby, Beal took the child back downstairs before he started “crying very loudly.”

  • Beal brought the infant to the relatives again, but this time, the baby was “coughing and produced a thick, bloody ball of mucous that she had to help pull out of his mouth.”

Doctors at Primary Children’s Hospital determined the baby had “bleeding on the brain in two places likely caused by lack of oxygen”, bruising, and “trauma inside the mouth consistent with forceful insertion of an object.”

The father allegedly “stated he may have been too aggressive when placing the pacifier as he was tired and frustrated due to the crying.”

He also claimed the other wounds were from “him tripping on a baby bathtub and clothing, as he fell to the ground the baby fell to the ground below him and his chest landed on the baby’s chin.”

Police determined doctors' findings were “not consistent with Jacob’s version of events” and arrested him for aggravated child abuse.
