A North Carolina father was charged in connection to the Dec. 02 death of his infant son from prolonged exposure to “elevated temperatures.”
27-year-old Aaron Lynwood Carter was charged with one count of felony involuntary manslaughter and one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Moore County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Carter’s home in the 100 block of Shady Wood Court in West End on Dec. 02 over reports of an unresponsive child.
They pronounced the 2-year-old victim dead at the scene and learned that he had been left unattended in an isolated room near a space heater for more than 12 hours.
The findings of the medical examiner’s office confirmed the toddler died from prolonged exposure to heat.
Carter was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
