The body discovered Wednesday inside a suitcase floating on New York’s East River missed the head and limbs, officials revealed.
A New York City ferry captain spotted the suspicious luggage and tried to fish it out of the water as it drifted near Governors Island.
The captain called the Police Department’s Harbor Unit after failing to retrieve the suitcase.
Officers responded and pulled the suitcase at around 5:30 p.m. making the gruesome discovery of a mutilated human torso inside the luggage.
The crew brought the suitcase to Pier 16 on the East Side of Manhattan for further investigation.
