Alabama man, 21, dies after stepping in front of oncoming truck in ‘intentional act’

A young Alabama man took his own life early Wednesday morning after he stepped in front of an oncoming truck on a Chilton County highway.

The tragic incident occurred just after 6 a.m. on I-65 near the 225-mile marker in Chilton County.

The coroner’s office identified the deceased as a 21-year-old male adding that he died at the scene.

Sheriff John Shearon said the incident is being investigated as a suicide.

    Shortly after the call, he drove to Chilton County where he left his car and walked in front of a semi-truck.

    “Everything we’ve seen, it was an apparent intentional act,” the sheriff added.

    The incident shut down the southbound lanes of I-65 for a couple of hours. All lanes were reopened by 8:45 a.m.
