A freak accident claimed the life of a tree trimmer while he worked at a Miami area town hall early Tuesday.
The Ocean Ridge Police Department received reports of “an accident involving one employee from a contracted tree trimming vendor” at around 9:30 p.m.
Officers and first responders rushed to the Ocean Ridge Town Hall and “upon arrival, they found one person had died from injuries sustained in the accident.”
Authorities said the victim, who has not been identified, got caught in a wood chipper while trimming trees at the town hall.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene and will launch an investigation.
The Boynton Beach Fire Rescue is offering grief counseling to the town employees and the victim’s coworkers.
