A 20-year-old Florida man was arrested after he allegedly ran over a baby he placed on the street Saturday morning.
Justin Golden was charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide in connection to the incident that left an 8-month-old dead.
Police in Jacksonville said Golden was driving his car along Lenox and McDuff when a fight involving his passenger erupted.
“The driver stopped the vehicle at the intersection, opened the door, and placed the child on the ground,” the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
“The driver then began to leave the area and the vehicle struck the child.”
Witness Markin Barnes recalled hearing a woman screaming and holding the baby.
“The kid was bleeding. So we immediately asked did she need help.”
Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to the scene and took the baby to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
“It’s going to be prayers and thoughts for the family. It’s rough you know, dealing with kids and young, it’s definitely going to be a traumatic situation.”
