Gunman who killed 13-year-old Washington boy in drive-by shooting arrested in Montana

Authorities in Missoula, Montana brought a SWAT team and deployed flashbangs to take a fatal drive-by shooting suspect into custody Wednesday.

Glen Dylan Burkey, 25, surrendered after the intense confrontation with the police, days after he allegedly shot and killed 13-year-old Gavin Looper.

Looper, his older brother, and their father were at a friend’s home Friday night when the father heard gunshots and found his son bleeding on the ground.

  • “It was literally the worst night my kids could’ve been over there. They shot through the back door. He was on the other side,” Looper’s mother said.

    Investigators said that Burkey had been drinking all day before getting involved in a dispute that ended in a shooting.

    Witnesses said he refused to surrender even after knowing that he had shot Looper.

    He now faces charges of second-degree murder, drive-by shooting, and assault.
