Neighbors subdued a New York City man after he allegedly stabbed his 45-year-old mother to death at their Brooklyn home Friday night.
A good Samaritan intervened and tried to stop the bloody assault after hearing the woman’s screams at around 11 p.m.
“They were fighting over the knife. I gotta give credit to the [good Samaritan]. I don’t know when he got there. He fought the guy, he held the guy down. [The suspect] had his arm stretched out with the kitchen knife. It was like a steak knife,” a neighbor recalled.
The man was watching TV at his home when he heard “a woman screaming for help” and came out to see what was happening.
“She was dead. She had two puncture wounds on her chest. I saw the holes. They went right through. There was a lot of blood.”
The stabber was reportedly shouting, the neighbor recalled.
“I don’t know what he was saying. I think he was screaming something.”
Another neighbor described the victim as a “peaceful” and “quiet person.”
“Sometimes I see her turn on the light. But that’s about it. I never hear any commotion, any scuffle going on in the apartment.”
