Suspect charged in beating death of ambulette worker in New York

A private ambulette worker was fatally assaulted inside his van Monday and New York authorities have now announced an arrest in the case.

Sharief Bodden, 29, was charged with murder, manslaughter, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a weapon charges in connection to the death of 64-year-old Peter Forrest.

Forrest’s employer found him beaten and unconscious inside the ambulette. He was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries to the head and torso.

  • Surveillance footage caught a suspect entering the van at around 9 a.m. and exiting minutes later before fleeing the scene in another car driven by a woman.

    Forrest was also a frontman for 24/7 Spyz, a Black Bronx rock band known for its signature remake of Kool & the Jungle Boogie.

    “[Forrest] was one of the most creative, charismatic, energetic, and powerful frontmen in the business,” the Black Rock Coalition said.

    “His stage presence and dynamic personality were matched only by a rare few.”
