A Louisiana man was killed by officers after he fatally shot his wife and their 2-year-old child and wounded two older daughters early Saturday.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph P. Lopinto III said that a 13-year-old survivor called 911 at around 4 a.m. and said that her father had killed her mother and toddler sibling.
“Hearing the child make that 911 call is pretty devastating right now, to be honest with you,” the sheriff said.
Deputies located the bodies of a 40-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child inside the River Ridge home where the armed father hid in a bedroom.
The man was killed in a confrontation with police. Two girls, aged 9 and 13, were injured with the younger listed in critical condition.
“It’s certainly a tragic situation but we’re looking to what could have brought it to this point,” Lopinto added.
