Illinois daycare fired for putting 4-year-old boy in trash can

The parents of an Illinois boy are outraged after a daycare worker put him in a trash can claiming it was “a joke.”

Surveillance footage caught the incident which occurred at the Learning Lab daycare where the parents had been leaving their 4-year-old son for two years.

“Regardless if she was joking or not, you don’t put anybody’s child in the garbage can,” the child’s mother Monica Forte said.

  • “You work with kids. I mean, you have to learn they should know how to de-escalate these certain situations.”

    Two other employees witnessed the incident, according to the parents. The boy was reportedly being punished for refusing to take a nap.

    “It was just way worse than I can imagine,” Father Justin Barnes said. “I can just imagine what was going through his head.”

    The involved employee was fired from her job. The child’s parents are planning to file a civil lawsuit.
