A 14-year-old New York City boy was stabbed to death Friday morning by a man caught on surveillance footage chasing him through the Bronx streets.
Police responded to the NYCHA’s Mitchel Houses at around 9:30 a.m. to find Caleb Rios suffering from two fatal stab wounds to the chest.
The teen died at Lincoln Hospital. Surveillance footage caught him running north on Lincoln Avenue past a Gasolina station followed by his killer.
An employee at the Gasolina said Caleb called his father after the stabbing.
“He called his father saying, ‘Dad I can’t breathe. He was running and the other guy caught him.”
“It’s crazy. It doesn’t make sense. He was a good kid. He always dressed nice. He wasn’t a street kid.”
The suspect remains at large. Jacob Rios, the boy’s father, said police are still investigating the murder.
“He was a wonderful boy. He was caring and loving. It’s hard right now,” the grieving father said.
