Authorities in Louisiana issued a warrant to arrest former Tigers player Kyren Lacy in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 78-year-old marine.
The 24-year-old former LCU wide receiver is accused of fleeing the scene of the crash that killed Herman Hall on Dec. 17 without rendering aid to the victim or calling the police.
Lacy was reportedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger when he “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone,” police said.
After the player allegedly “illegally passed the other vehicles” on Louisiana Highway 20, he ended up on the way of a pickup truck that “abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a collision” with his vehicle.
A 2017 Kia Cadenza that was behind the pickup truck also swerved to avoid the Dodge Charger when it “crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”
The victim was a passenger in the Sorento, police said. Lacy allegedly drove away “without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.”
“Troopers are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in.”
